VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ARTweek
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK, we will present the collective performance opera Under Scars at Palazzo Mora, the historical premises of the European Cultural Centre in Venice, on Saturday, December 17, at 7:00 pm (admission free).
Under Scars is envisioned and devised by the artist duos VestAndPage (Verena Stenke & Andrea Pagnes) and Andrigo & Aliprandi in collaboration with Irina Baldini, Sabrina Bellenzier, Giorgia de Santi, daz disley, Nicola Fornoni, Marisa Garreffa, Fenia Kotsopoulou, Ash McNaughton, Aisha Pagnes, Enok Ripley, Sara Simeoni, Mauro Sambo, Joseph Morgan Schofield, Marcel Sparmann and Emily Welther.
The experience of the collective performance opera Body Matters: Anam Cara – Dwelling Bodies in 2018 made us imagine a radically different direction for the VENICE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART WEEK. We realised that the production of collective performance operas should be nurtured by artists-in-residences that provide time and space for the needed intensive co-creation processes. Under Scars grew from this insight as a collective performance opera and work-in-progress. It developed from Body Matters: Co-Creation Residency, a shared artistic research and a co-creative path undertaken by 15 performance and sound artists organised in June 2022 at C32 performingartsworkspace in Forte Marghera (Venice).

Free the kitsch – Athens Film Fest is an annual celebration of film, performance and sustainable fashion that aims to showcase the most controversial, DADA, queer, underground, experimental, DIY, surprisingly beautiful works and to question the boundaries between proper and improper, mainstream and underground, popular and fine art. It takes place in the socio-cultural project Communitism, a beautiful re-activated early 20th century building in the heart of Athens.
For 3 days, the festival brings together the most transgressive, unique, bizarre and inspiring aspects of film, fashion, performance and visual arts and presents a program full of screenings, installations, performances, workshops, talks, parties and, of course, an extravagant Catwalk that takes place during the last night of the festival.
This year, festival’s dates are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of December 2022.

SALT + EARTH Festival of Landscape, Seascape and the Environment
Between sedimentary lines of compression and exposure, connected under a body of water, SITE presents FAULT LINES, bringing together gathered material from site-responsive collaborative performances that took place over two locations: active quarry Carriére de Dannes in France (12.09.2022), and disused quarry Upper Culand Pit, Burham in the UK (16.09.2022). The split-screen film encourages active participation when viewing, as a witnessing of temporal images, actions, and gestures. Featuring the quarry in France on the left screen and the UK quarry on the right screen, the film documents the processes and dialogues between the artists and environment, across the two related sites, where the visible process of erosion and extraction provides the opportunity to respond to the geological and anthropological histories uncovered and affected by human and industrial scale touch. Each artist enters the performance without holding prior expectations or pre-conceived ideas, disregarding any outcome-oriented approach. The artists work with what arises and is offered in the moment, through direct response to the site, materials, and each other. Limited objects and materials were brought into each performance, most materials being found and procured in each location, while some journey between the sites. The exchange and transformation of organic matter and material reflects and acknowledges the corresponding geology, wildlife, and human presence in both areas. By taking a queer ecological approach, FAULT LINES unfolds the potential to explore how geological connections might offer reciprocal encounters and ways in which we might learn from unearthing layers of compressed histories.
SITE co-founded and co-facilitated by selina bonelli, Helen Davison, and Ash McNaughton Participating Artists : Eduardo Cardoso Amato, Barbara LeBéguec-Friedman, Kane Stonestreet, Samm Shakleton, Helen Davison, selina bonelli, and Ash McNaughton. Documentation by: Fenia Kotsopoulou and Daz Disley Edited by: Daz Disley and Ash McNaughton Performances at: Carriére de Dannes, France (12.09.2022) and Upper Culand Pit, Burham, UK (16.09.2022) Commissioned and presented as part of SALT + EARTH Festival of Landscape, Seascape and the Environment (23 - 25/09/2022) at Block 67, Digital Glassworks, Folkestone, UK. BODY MATTERS CO-CREATION RESIDENCY
LIVE PERFORMANCE
of the CO-CREATION EXPERIENTIAL RESIDENCY
Warehouse 30, Forte Marghera, Venice-Mestre, Italy
June 9, 2022, 19:00
BODY MATTERS is a moment of sustained encounter where different artistic researches combine with performative responses to confront the emergencies of the present. The idea also arises from the desire to further qualify the C32 artistic space as a performative interface for the coagulation of inclusive, expansive stories; an open space that functions as a social-narrative incubator wherein performative systems and methods are intertwined in the search for new and unconventional expressive approaches.
The co-creation includes fifteen artists, with consolidated international experience: Irina Baldini (FI/IT), a participant in the Biennale Danza in 2017 and 2019; multimedia performer Emily Welther (US/DE); the site-specific artist Selina Bonelli (UK); performance artists Ash McNaughton (UK), Marcel Sparmann (DE), Marisa Gareffa (AU/IT) and Nicola Fornoni (IT); digital artist Daz Disley (UK); Joseph Morgan Schofield (UK), creator and curator of Future Ritual London; Fenia Kotsopoulou (GR/UK), one of the leaders of the department of performance practices at the ArtEZ University in the Netherlands; the artistic duo Andrigo & Aliprandi (IT), founders of Live Arts Cultures, and finally VestAndPage, artist duo and initiators of the Venice International Performance Art Week, in addition to the aforementioned Sara Simeoni (IT/DE).

'may show' group exhibition
"SCENTS OF EVANESCENCE" (2017-today) at x-church (Gainsborough)for the group exhibition "may show" curated by artists Kate Buckley and Joana Cifre Cerdà, taking place until the 22nd of May 2022.
Materials: chlorophyll prints on bay laurel, found wood, stones, rice paper.
SCENTS OF EVANESCENCE is a lifelong interdisciplinary art project focusing on memory, intimacy, and ephemerality, mainly through the means of alternative image-making and text. The central vein of the project is the one-to-one encounter which generates a single portrait and a response to a question posed before the captured moment. Since 2017, more than 225 encounters have taken place, resulting in portraits, developed using only organic
alternative photographic processes (anthotypes, chlorotypes, petalotypes), a growing collective text in at least 23
different languages of expression, performative actions, and creative responses by other artists. In the context of the group exhibition "may show", some of these portraits, as chlorophyll prints placed on a tree branch, and fragments of the collective
text, embedded on stones, are displayed in x-church with the invitation to hold with gentleness onto fleeting moments before they slowly disappear.

"these teeming forms" by Joseph Morgan Schofield
"these teeming forms' (2021) - a new performance film by Joseph Morgan Schofield, made in collaboration with Fenia Kotsopoulou, Mitchell Sowden and Zack McGuinness, and it will be screened 29.06-1.07 (Tue, Wed, Thu) and 3.07 (Thu), in vsslstudio in London.
"Textural and sensate, the film explores porosity - of the land and body; of eroticism and grief. The land, like the body, is an archive. 'these teeming forms' is a process of communing with the land, of (be)longing with and to it. There is no going back. Queer ecology is enacted here as a process of wilding, looking forwards and out, towards new mythic relations with the land".

Fantasies, inner needs and desires are combined with the fear of loneliness. The drawings are made using only black ink, and two basic colours: blue and red. Basic lines, basic colours to depict a basic need: to embrace the other.
