ABOUT ENRICO PIETRACCI

Enrico Pietracci is an Italian visual artist (painter, illustrator) art director, photographer based in Berlin (DE).

In Florence and Milan, he worked as an art director in the fashion and advertising sector in conjunction with dance and theater. Since 1994 lives and works in Berlin where he developed his practice (illustrations for magazines, design and illustrations of CD-ROMs for children and more).

In 1998 he began working as a freelance artist and his activity is  characterized by an intensive study of the female figure  evolved into a unique dynamic concept of exchange between the artist and the model. The artistic path of Enrico Pietracci is marked by different creative phases, which, at first glance, may appear discontinuous and incongruent. In reality however, they are connected to each other by a subtle and persistent line which, in the personal consciousness of what was perceived, leads through the different phases of evolution on a path of permanent development.

The creative development of the last five years shows traces of a path, which is strongly marked by experiences including the direct and total involvement of the artist himself (spirit and body) in the creation process itself. This “involvement” finds its expression in several performances, which aim at the search of a synthesis between visual and dramatic arts.

Concept

"Athanor- the place" is the next phase of "Solve et Coagula" : a collaborative interdisciplinary project (performance, video, installation) by Enrico and Fenia. Specifically, it consist of 5 days long durational and interactive performances, taking place in Enrico's atelier. The space of the atelier transforms into a living laboratory, a “ furnace” where body, material, minerals, liquids, emotions, time, space and relationships are the ingredients for the new creative and (alche)mistic  experiment. The public has the possiblity to assist and influence the process of the creators, step in to the space and become part of the artwork.

Konzept

Video Installation/Live Performance

8. Juli 2012, 20H Studio 1 || Uferstudios GmbH || Uferstraße 8/23, Berlin

A collective project by:

Enrico Pietracci- Visual artist, performer

Fenia Kotsopoulou- Performer on stage and on screen

Raymond La Motte - Art Director and visual artist

EvaSophia Sutter- Performer (on screen)

"Control Procedure1 - Solve et Coagula" is a moving project that encompasses the experiences of different artistic forms and brings together, on stage, two indipendent works:

"Control procedure 1" by Raymond La Motte and

"Solve et Coagula" by Enrico Pietracci & Fenia Kotsopoulou.

This video installation/performance offers a direct experience between the public, the artists and images. During the event, the public passes through a sensorial trip in a space where reality and image overlap; this is a temporary movement which creates two times and two modes of vision. It's a reflection on the transformation and manipulation of human perceptions.

Concept

"Solve et Coagula" is a multi-disciplinary collaborative project; an intense and open dialogue between a visual artist and a dance performer.

The initial idea started from the need of both artists to undertake an experiential journey through testing several personal, physical and emotional states. The cornerstone of the project relied on the process of experimentation with different materials, in order to explore emotions, past experiences related to death and the shifting dynamics within their relationship.

The visual outputs, emerged during the research period, became the "raw material" in which the live performance/installation was based on and scored. Through repeated processes of "dissolution" and "coagulation" (solve et coagula), Fenia and Enrico aimed to create a state of "completeness", integrated in a new expressive synthesis. During the performance all the components: images, Body, materials, pigments, traces, memories and sound were merged within an "emotional landscape" in constant transformation.

Concetto
